Job Description

ADC is seeking a Logistics Analyst/Technical Writer to work in in our Woodbridge, VA office supporting our U.S. Army Night Vision and Electronics Sensors Directorate (NVESD) program efforts. 

The Logistics Analyst/Technical Writer will work with both U.S. Army and Contractor personnel including engineers, designers, and technicians and logisticians to perform maintenance task analysis and develop technical documentation to support fielding, operation and maintenance of platform integrated systems. The ideal candidate is proactive, eager to learn, and can view problems analytically and act on them effectively.

Responsibilities

The candidate will support the following essential functions:

     Analysis/Planning:

  • Maintenance Planning: to include analysis and preparation of various maintenance plans
  • Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) utilizing COMPASS software
  • Production of required documentation such as Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC), Task Analysis/Maintenance Task Analysis, Maintenance Plan, and Preventive Maintenance, Checks and Services (PMCS)
  • Knowledgeable in use of LSAR provisioning data required for maintenance planning
  • Development of logistics procedures and logistics plans as required

    Publications Development:

  • Development of Modification Work Orders (MWOs) for system installation
  • Development of Technical Manuals specifically as applied to Operator (-10) and Maintainer (-13&P, 23&P)
  • Authoring in XML following DoD specifications MIL-STD-40051, MIL-HDBK-1222, and MIL-STD-2361 Document Type Definitions (DTDs).
  • Interpret and convert information (e.g. engineering models, drawings, schematics, spreadsheets, etc.) into end-user military standard (MIL STD) documentation and reference materials such as Maintenance Allocation Charts (MAC), repair parts and special tools lists
  • Interview subject matter experts engaged in developing products and services to acquire and verify Technical Manual content
  • Plan, lead, and execute complex tasks related to Technical Manual Development
  • Provide cost, schedule, and budget estimates for business development / proposals related to Technical Manual Development or Training activities
  • Plan, lead, and execute Technical Manual Validation, Logistics Demonstration, and/or Technical Manual Verification events (as Government or Contractor).

In order to qualify for this position you must have:

  • 8-10 years of related experience
  • Familiarization with Power Log and COMPASS
  • Proficiency with Arbortext (or similar) XML authoring utilities.
  • Familiarity with military (U.S. Army) maintenance concepts to include the Army's two-level maintenance concept and maintenance allocation chart (MAC) use in TM development
  • Ability to critically review technical documentation and provide constructive feedback
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong communication skills to enable effective interactions with various engineering and scientific disciplines, end-users and client program offices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • Relevant experience in military documentation development
  • Military experience preferred but not required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
